KILLFACE
Central Server Works | February 21 - March 21, 2026
KILLFACE (2024) is a single-channel video with 5.1 sound that extends Kate Trumbull-LaValle’s nonfiction practice into a durational, spatial encounter with strength, stamina, and sustained effort, treating the moving image as an architectural condition rather than a narrative form. Building on the artist’s long-standing focus on bodies under pressure, collective endurance, and the entanglement of care, labor, and resistance—seen in works such as OVARIAN PSYCOS (2016) and Prologue to Epilogue: One Act Leads to Another (2023)—KILLFACE shifts from collective movement to singular exertion through the presence of Muay Thai champion Natalie “Kill Face” Morgan. Also on view are two recent silent film works, Clinch and After the Cut (2024–2025), composed from cut footage of earlier projects and presented on small-scale monitors. These intimate studies of athletic motion continue the artist’s sustained investigation of endurance, abstraction, and the politics of the moving body.
